Credit goes to the California Digital Newspaper Collection, Center for Bibliographic Studies and Research, University of California, Riverside, (http://cdnc.ucr.edu), for supplying a copy of the article. One stormy evening in August of 1896, roughly 400 miles off Santa Catharina, Brazil, the ship hit a hurricane and went down with her cargo and 14 sailors.
